Review: This is a great hike for kids. It's short, easy, and
safe with all the things kids like for the entire hike: a creek,
big rocks and a spectacular view at the end. |

Review: The hike itself is short and sweet. It has multiple
creek crossings, and a big trail-side rock. It's destination is
truly beautiful: a completely accessible waterfall, a great cave
for anyone who likes to boulder around, and smooth ground for
barefoot play. There are large flat rocks that are perfect for
laying on and soaking up the sun like a lizard. An ideal
place for youngin's. The only qualm I have with this place is
that if the weather is anywhere near decent, you can't count on
solitude.

Review: If you're traveling near Brevard, NC, don't miss
the opportunity to see High Falls and Triple Falls. The hike is
relatively easy and the views are absolutely spectacular. (Aside
from the hikes described here, Dupont State Forest has dozens of
other scenic trails.) |

Review: VIEWS,VIEWS,VIEWS! This hike is a beautiful couple of
hours. The views from the top are awe inspiring at the least.
There are many side trips that can be added on if the trip to
the top isn't enough. The area is my favorite place to hike, it
even beats my trips to Alaska.

Review: It's a pleasant, easy-to-moderate hike that stays
away from the roads. The destination is cool, particularly
if you know the history (www.rattlesnakelodge.com).
But neither the hike nor the destination are anything too
special. What makes this hike worth it are it's beautiful woods,
and conveniently close location. A good day hike that doesn't
take all day, or take it all out of you.

Review: The Green Knob hike is also a great hike - maybe
better since it is longer and you see more of the natural beauty
enroot. The trail junction of the MST and the Green Mt. trail is
about at 2.3 to 2.5 miles, then have about that distance to
Green Knob, over several summits and knobs (don't really know
the difference). On about the fourth of these is a great view
and worth the hike just for it. But Green Knob is great -
views all around from various points. Elevation on Green knob
about 5920 ft per my GPS, about the same as the height of the
first summit on the green mountain trail. Ups and downs are
there but not terrible. Overall I'd rate the hike a moderate
with a few strenuous spots but not at all hard. A great work out
with a good reward at the end. |
