The
parking area for Graveyard Fields on the Parkway was full as usual
this day. The Yellowstone Prong starts here on Black Balsam Knob
and plunges into the Graveyard Fields valley over Upper Falls.
Then the stream meanders through the valley which has relatively
low relief and a high elevation, compared to the narrow valleys
found nearby. To the left of the picture, the stream plunges off
this semi-plateau to form Second and Yellowstone Falls. Looking
Glass Rock sits in the Davidson River Valley, the summit being
some 2000' below.
