After climbing straight up the cliff on the large structure, the trail continues uphill on these wooden stairs, which you will find often along this trail. In fact, much of the trail's surface is wood - only a small part is on actual dirt or rocks! This serves not only to provide you a safe, easy ascent up and down the mountain, but also to prevent erosion and protect fragile plant communities in this unique environment. This is why the entrance fee to this park is money well spent.
