As you achieve the ridge near Mount Hardy, one of the largest meadows opens up on the left.  This used to be all grassy, but now the "smooth" blackberries have taken over.  They're not completely smooth, though - watch out for thorny spines on the tough, chest to head-high shoots.  Other meadows further along don't have so many darn blackberries.
