Here's a closer shot of the rough ridge on Grandfather Mountain which ultimately accounts for its name, being said to resemble the silhouette of an old man. The contrail is coming out of either the chin of the "larger" profile, or the forehead of the "smaller" profile, either of which have been cited as the history behind the mountain's name.
