Upper Falls on the Linville River.  The overlook has a rock wall all around it which you are not supposed to cross over...

To the right, the water spills out of the large pool and wraps around behind where I am standing, and plunges into the little slot canyon above the lower falls.  There is a good-sized falls within the slot, which you can see the brink of from here.
