Deep within the South Mills River Gorge are these large, riverside flat areas. Typically, tall, straight hemlocks or poplars tower over the flats (such as here) and the soft needles make great camping spots! However, be warned - these areas can and do flood during extremely high river water, or pooling from runoff during heavy rain.
