View of Meadow and Parking Area

Standing in the grassy meadow on Sam Knob's southern summit, looking east back toward the parking area. Here you are standing at 6040'. The large grassy meadow and the trail can be seen in the middle of the photo, elevation 5640'. Behind the clump of spruce trees is the parking area and Black Balsam Road. The road leading to the left is the Ivestor Gap trail, which eventually leads to Shining Rock. The rocky mountain behind that is Black Balsam Knob, elevation 6214'.
