This excellent trail takes you by the base of one of the most beautiful falls in the area. From the campground, follow the signs to the parking area for the falls trail. Take the right fork where the trail splits. The trail will descend and switch back to the base of the falls, and cross the stream on a nice wooden bridge. This makes an excellent place to spend some time and get some photos. From here you can continue steeply up the opposite side of the valley, sometimes on steps, into a nice mixed hardwood forest. You will climb to the ridge high above the falls and then meet up with the stream, and follow it upstream crossing it again. Shortly the trail loops back to where it splits; turn right to reach the parking lot.

Sometimes called "The smallest named falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway", but well worth the short walk.

This trail travels to four excellent views of the Upper and Lower Falls. The first overlook takes you to the pool at Upper Falls. From this vantage point you can see the river pouring into the narrorw gorge above the lower falls. The second overlook is called Chimney View, and from it you can see both the upper and lower falls. There are some steeper hills along this section of the trail. From the Gorge View Overlook, there is an excellent view downriver into the Linville Gorge. From Erwin's View Overlook, the end of this trail, enjoy a panoramic view of the gorge as well as Linville Falls in the distance.

From the visitor center, this trail starts out fairly smooth through a forest of very large hemlocks and white pines to the junction with the Plunge Basin overlook split. The trail to the overlook is downhill and has some obstacles, but is well worth the view. This is a popular spot for photographing the falls. Standing on top of the cliffs above the falls, you have a great view of the pool at the base of the falls and the falls themselves, and the overlooks across the gorge. Past the split, the trail descends, sometimes on steep stairs, below rock cliffs and switches back to end up at the basin itself. This is a magnificent view from the base of the falls. Swimming is not allowed!
