Maps of the Black Balsam Area

The map below shows the Black Balsam Knob, Sam Knob, and Flat Laurel Valley areas. All of these trails are excellent, with many things to see along the way. Using these trails, there are several options for loops as well. The hike to Sam Knob is just one of the possible hikes in this area, and all could be considered Best Hikes. However, the hike to Sam Knob is recommended due to the extremely heavy use the rest of these trails receive.
