HikeWNC Trail Details: Crabtree Falls Loop

Description

This excellent trail takes you by the base of one of the most beautiful falls in the area. From the campground, follow the signs to the parking area for the falls trail. Take the right fork where the trail splits. The trail will descend and switch back to the base of the falls, and cross the stream on a nice wooden bridge. This makes an excellent place to spend some time and get some photos. From here you can continue steeply up the opposite side of the valley, sometimes on steps, into a nice mixed hardwood forest. You will climb to the ridge high above the falls and then meet up with the stream, and follow it upstream crossing it again. Shortly the trail loops back to where it splits; turn right to reach the parking lot.
