Description

From the hiker parking below the summit, climbs through a series of switchbacks in a spruce-fir forest (with a healthy helping of blueberry and rhododendron shrubs in the understory). Rocky and rooty in places, with a couple of wood structures to help anchor the trail to the mountain in others. Great view of MacRae Peak and limited views to the east along the way.

Extends the Grandfather trail down to the attraction area's trails parking and can be used to make a moderate loop hike within the attraction area by combining with the Bridge trail.

This trail is located in the Grandfather Mountain State Park area. For a list of all the trails in that area, see the Grandfather Mountain State Park trails list page.
