Wikipedia defines a Trailhead as the point at which a trail starts. It can also include the parking lots, comfort faciliities, and information boards or visitor centers located nearby. Historically, cities located near the starting point for major paths were also called Trailheads. For this site, a Trailhead can include all of these things. It can also mean an area where several trails are located within easy walking or driving distance, such as the watershed of a stream or a park. Use this section to find a place to hike.

The following information is provided for each trailhead, when possible:

  • General information (geography, area scenery, and what makes the trails in the area unique).
  • The Best Hikes at each Trailhead
  • Raw trail information for each individual trail in the network (name, length, difficulty, map numbers, links to maps, and detailed descriptions).
  • Camping and lodging in and around each Trailhead.
  • Driving directions to each Trailhead.
  • Pictures taken from the trails.
  • Videos of the hikes or trails

This section contains most of the actual information on this site, categorized by location. The other main sections above such as Best Hikes, Area Information, Photo Gallery, and Maps are indexes to information stored in this Trailheads section.
