Open Areas along Shortoff Mountain Trail

Vibrant blooms of young Mountain Laurel shrubs lined much of the trail to the summit of Shortoff Mountain in May 2017, despite the area's history of wildfires. The fires did open up spectacular views from about this point on the trail and up.
