Instead of following a side trail down to the cliff's edge for a view, you can simply continue on the main trail, which emerges in cliff-top openings such as this. The railings mark the edge of the "safe" area to walk, but don't trust them to hold your weight - they're rusty. (These rails have since been replaced with a sturdier, more attractive fence with wooden posts).
