Description

From the parking area off of Hall Rd., the Lower Cascades trail winds through level, young woods up to the edge of a little gorge Cascade Creek has carved as it cuts down to the Dan River. Upon reaching the "rim" of the gorge, the trail descends over an elaborate series of steps and wood structures. It's not far to the creek and the big pool below the falls, which is a very popular spot for hanging out, wading, and swimming. Although the water tends to be just a bit cloudy, it's a pretty falls and well worth the visit.

This trail is located in the Hanging Rock State Park area. For a list of all the trails in that area, see the Hanging Rock State Park trails list page.
