This trail is located in the Mills River area. For a list of all the trails in that area, see the Mills River trails list page.

The trail follows an old railroad grade; you may notice some of the old ties still in the ground. It follows or crosses the Middle Fork of the North Mills River for its entire length. You will pass some wildlife fields, which are maintained by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The lower section is a little steeper and more scenic -- passes by several sizeable cascades on Middle Fork.
